Monument to cold weather in Jõgeva

A monument to cold weather has been erected on the Piibe road on the outskirts of Jõgeva, where the lowest ever temperature in Estonia (-43.5*C) was recorded in 1940. The monument also highlights the most recent record of -37.6*C from 2003, also recorded in Jõgeva.

Struve Geodetic Arc in Kaarepere on Aruküla hill

The Struve Geodetic Arc is a survey circuit created by astronomer and surveyor Friedrich Georg Wilhelm Struve to specify the size and shape of the Earth and to produce accurate topographic maps, consisting of 265 measuring points and extending from the Arctic Ocean to the Black Sea. One of the triangulation points is located in Kaarepere on Aruküla hill. In the immediate vicinity of sports centre ‘Virtus’ in Jõgeva, you will find a diverse disc golf park with 9 baskets with open courses and narrow tunnels. You can also rent discs from the reception table of Jõgeva Sports Centre from Monday to Friday from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. The rental costs 1 euro (2 hours). Come and spend an active day in the nature with your friends or family!

Our aim is to offer our customers beautiful, genuine and quality goods and great service. We also have workshops where an instructor will give tips on how you can make your own souvenirs or anything else. A few days later, after the glass melting procedure is finished, guests will receive their souvenir by mail.

An airy holiday home underneath tall trees on the shores of Lake Kuremaa. Cosy and tranquil, the holiday home with wonderful views is suitable for a holiday for up to two families or two smaller groups. On the ground floor, you find a large kitchen, a living room, a bedroom with a double bed, an electrical sauna, a shower and WC. On the first floor, you find a large bedroom with floor-to-ceiling windows and a double bed, and also extra beds. There is a sitting and barbecue area in the garden. A boat is available for hire.

St Bartholomew’s Church in Palamuse

Palamuse Church is one of the oldest medieval churches in northern Tartu County. The church was first mentioned in documents in 1234. As a fortress church, it provided protection from invaders during wars. There is a burial ground around the church, which has two preserved headstones. The unique wooden sculptures on the altar and pulpit date back to 1696. There is a dry-stone painting on the eastern outer wall. Services are held in the church every Sunday at 11 a.m. The church also organises concerts and plays.

Alo Mattiisen’s piano classroom

In the centre of the town, at Jõgeva Music School, where Alo Mattiisen studied, a memorial was unveiled to mark his 45th birthday. Five years later, in 2011, his piano classroom was also completed to celebrate his 50th birthday. It features his fully restored piano and a display of the composer's personal items. The classroom can be used to host small concerts, training sessions, conferences and music lessons.

Aruküla hill recreation area

There is a lovely recreation area on Aruküla hill in Kaarepere which is perfect for families, friends, and larger groups. There is a playground with swings and a slide, especially loved by younger children. You can rest under the shelter or on benches or your own picnic blanket. Barbecue facilities are also available on site. Visitors can also play disc golf (there is a rental point). The Struve Geodetic Arc is also located in the recreation area. The view of Vooremaa from the hill is magnificent and there is plenty of room for camping.
