Palamuse (0 km) – Luua (6.3 km) – Elistvere Animal Park (19.7 km) – Pikkjärve (32.5 km) – Palamuse (39 km)Starting your trip from Palamuse in Jõgeva County, ride along the asphalt road through the beautiful valley to Luua. Before reaching Luua you can cool off in Lake Prossa. Luua has a renovated Baroque manor complex and manor park with an oak avenue, and the museum of stuffed taxidermy animals provides a good overview of Estonian wildlife.
Next, take a detour onto a forest road in Ehavere to see the bed of Kalevipoeg, the hero of the Estonian national epic, and once you reach the asphalt again, head to the children’s amusement park Vudila and Elistvere animal park – one of the favourite places of nature lovers. After visiting the animal park, head to the other shore of Lake Raigastvere, where you can get a good overview of the drumlin landscape and lakes from the observation tower.
Next, head in the direction of Kärksi. Through the village of Nava, the trail leads you up a rather high hill, but once you exit the forest, you’ll get to enjoy one of the best views of Lake Prossa and the villages.
From Pikkjärve, a pleasant gravel road leads to Kaarepere, from there an asphalt road winds up and down all the way to Palamuse.
The route has a moderate difficulty level. Gravel roads cover about half of the route, the rest runs along paved roads. The traffic density is low on most sections.
It’s great to start the trip from either Palamuse or Elistvere. You can reach this route by train from the Kaarepere station which is only 1 km away or from Tabivere station, which is 5 km away.
