Kalevipoeg’s Home
Kalevipoeg's Home consists of the Kalevipoeg Museum, Kalevipoeg's Adventure Park, Kalevipoeg's Playground, and Saare Community Centre. The Kalevipoeg Museum provides an excellent overview of the Estonian national epic "Kalevipoeg". In the Kalevipoeg's Adventure Park, you can choose between lower or higher adventure trails and challenge yourself between the ground and the sky. Those who wish can also play discgolf. Kalevipoeg’s Museum
The Kalevipoeg Museum represents one of the 21 places, marked with a National Geographic's yellow window, that are worth exploring in Southern Estonia. The museum is named after Estonian national epic "Kalevipoeg" because the Kääpa River is where the sword of Kalevipoeg is located, and around it are resting places, rocks, springs, swamps, and furrows. Permanent exhibition “Lake Peipus Living Room”
Lake Peipus Living Room is a permanent exhibition that gives visitors information about the natural conditions in Lake Peipus and the lives of people living by the lake. You can see models of the 34 species of fish that inhabit Lake Peipus. There is also a three-dimensional model of the lake that is 4 m long and 1.4 m wide and also shows the location of the towns and villages, accommodation establishments, museums, watchtowers and other places of interest near the lake. Põltsamaa Museum
Põltsamaa Museum is located within the walls of the ancient Põltsamaa Ordensburg. Põltsamaa Museum gives an overview of the glorious past of the stronghold, town and the parish: Interesting facts: During the Livonian War the castle was the residence of the King of Livonia In the 19th century the castle was a Rococo style castle, a flourishing centre of culture and industry.
Exhibition “Samovars and Old Believers”
The exhibition's collection contains more than 50 samovars from various eras, countries, with different shapes and heating methods. The oldest samovar dates back to 1810. Samovars are accompanied by a multitude of tea glass holders (more than a hundred pieces). Photos of Russian Old Believers illustrate the walls. The exhibition also contains traditional items of the Old Believers, such as tea time and everything it entails, clothing, furniture, church equipment, icons, iconostasis, lampada, lestovkas, podrusniks, etc. You can also buy souvenirs, handicrafts and novelty products by the brand Varvara Gourmet.
Kuremaa mill
Kuremaa mill is part of the Kuremaa manor complex; the fully renovated mill reopened in 2009. The ground floor is home to a function room with its own fireplace and a sales counter, while the first floor is the perfect place for exhibitions and training events. The second floor hosts an exhibition on the Dutch-style windmills that can be found in Estonia – including its most impressive piece, a model of the Kuremaa windmill. Kuremaa beach
The northern shore of Lake Kuremaa is home to the only beach in Jõgeva County manned by lifeguards. Here you will find a 250-metre stretch of golden sand, aquabikes and boat hire, a beachfront cafe, a playground, areas for ball games, a caravan park and more. You can also camp here. The swimming area is marked by buoys. The water temperature is measured constantly, with information provided on special stands.
Luua Arboretum
Luua Arboretum exhibits about 500 species and forms of trees and bushes. The arboretum was founded based on the principles of botanical geography with the departments for plants from Europe, Siberia, Central Asia, the Far East and North America.
Kursi’s Sts. Mary and Elisabeth Church of the Estonian Evangelical Lutheran Church
Baroque architecture in concordance with pseudo Gothic architecture (alteration by Johann Gottfired Mühlhausen). Twelve small spiring pinnacles symbolise the twelve apostles of Jesus. The church manor is a historical parochial centre; there is a museum in the vicarage (built in 1817).
