Guesthouse at the Village Elder Carl Schmidt’s House
Carl Schmidt's House, the light-coloured 2-storey wooden guesthouse, is located in the heart of the small town of Põltsamaa in Central Estonia, 1 km from the Tallinn-Tartu road. The guesthouse's cafe and restaurant for up to 100 persons are located on the ground floor and all bedrooms for up to 45 persons are on the first floor. Lustivere Manor
First records which mention the manor date back to 1552. The manor house inspired by Neo-Gothic style was built based on the designs of an architect and researcher of antiquities from Tartu, R.von Guleke, and it is one of the most remarkable manor houses in the centre of Estonia. At present the manor houses a retirement home. * The manor can only be viewed from the outside.
Põltsamaa Wine Cellar
Põltsamaa Wine Cellar has become one of the town's true tourist magnets. Here you can taste and buy all the wines from the local wine selection. In summer 2023 an exquisite restaurant called Oberpahlen was opened near the cellar. Come and enjoy wines from Põltsamaa and other places of Estonia as well as delicious food from the restaurant menu. In addition, the cellar offers wine tasting packages for groups including either three or five wines.
Põltsamaa Rose Garden
The rose garden exhibits 5000 rose plants and almost 1000 different rose varieties. During the excursion visitors will see various rose varieties, and they will learn about their history and legends and other interesting facts. Roses mostly bloom from the middle of June to the middle of September, depending on the weather.
Kursi’s Sts. Mary and Elisabeth Church of the Estonian Evangelical Lutheran Church
Baroque architecture in concordance with pseudo Gothic architecture (alteration by Johann Gottfired Mühlhausen). Twelve small spiring pinnacles symbolise the twelve apostles of Jesus. The church manor is a historical parochial centre; there is a museum in the vicarage (built in 1817).
Põltsamaa Museum
Põltsamaa Museum is located within the walls of the ancient Põltsamaa Ordensburg. Põltsamaa Museum gives an overview of the glorious past of the stronghold, town and the parish: Interesting facts: During the Livonian War the castle was the residence of the King of Livonia In the 19th century the castle was a Rococo style castle, a flourishing centre of culture and industry.
The house of rural town elder Carl Schmidt
This cafe, situated in the heart of Põltsamaa, provides catering to up to 100 people (with group menus available). Daily soups and specials are also offered. Live music evenings are held here from time to time, and in the summer you can enjoy the fine weather on the terrace, which seats up to 30.
Adavere ice skating rink
Adavere ice skating rink is open to all skaters next to the manor school in the town of the same name, around 120 km from Tallinn on the Tallinn-Tartu Highway. You can see it from the road.
Rivaal Cafe
Rivaal Cafe is in the centre of Põltsamaa, on the shores of the river and with views to Roosisaar Island. It has its own fireplace, as well as a private room catering for groups of up to 40 people.
