Kalevipoeg’s Home
Kalevipoeg's Home consists of the Kalevipoeg Museum, Kalevipoeg's Adventure Park, Kalevipoeg's Playground, and Saare Community Centre. The Kalevipoeg Museum provides an excellent overview of the Estonian national epic "Kalevipoeg". In the Kalevipoeg's Adventure Park, you can choose between lower or higher adventure trails and challenge yourself between the ground and the sky. Those who wish can also play discgolf. The house of rural town elder Carl Schmidt
This cafe, situated in the heart of Põltsamaa, provides catering to up to 100 people (with group menus available). Daily soups and specials are also offered. Live music evenings are held here from time to time, and in the summer you can enjoy the fine weather on the terrace, which seats up to 30.
Kalevipoeg’s Museum
The Kalevipoeg Museum represents one of the 21 places, marked with a National Geographic's yellow window, that are worth exploring in Southern Estonia. The museum is named after Estonian national epic "Kalevipoeg" because the Kääpa River is where the sword of Kalevipoeg is located, and around it are resting places, rocks, springs, swamps, and furrows. Weaving Chipwood Baskets in the Avinurme Wooden Handicrafts Center
Weaving a chipwood basket is the most popular attraction in the wooden handicraft centre and if there's a place in Estonia where this craft is known, it's Avinurme. Everyone can learn the basics of weaving a basket in the workshop with the help of an instructor: you pick out chipwood, weave a berry basket from the chips and finally apply a finish. Summer cafe at Härjanurme fish farm
At the fish farm, you can catch premium trout, sturgeon, and carp. The cooks of the summer cafe in a log house will cook your fish in accordance with your preferences. Additionally, you can buy fish to go, use boats, and go swimming. Härjanurme fish farm is perfect for organising celebrations, fish picnics, meetings, and simply spending a lovely day on the well-maintained shores of the local waterbodies.
Põltsamaa Castle
The stone fortress was constructed on the banks of the Põltsamaa River already in 1272. Later on (1570–1578) the fortress was the residence of Livonia's King Magnus. Repeatedly pillaged, the castle was rebuilt by Woldemar Johann von Lauw. In the 18th century the fortress became a grand rococo-style palace. The castle and the church burnt down in 1941. Only the church was restored in 1952. The castle remained in ruins, waiting for its time. The complex is open again from the summer of 2023. Lustivere Manor
First records which mention the manor date back to 1552. The manor house inspired by Neo-Gothic style was built based on the designs of an architect and researcher of antiquities from Tartu, R.von Guleke, and it is one of the most remarkable manor houses in the centre of Estonia. At present the manor houses a retirement home. * The manor can only be viewed from the outside.
Puiduait seminar room in Avinurme
The rooms at Puiduait in Avinurme are perfect for training events, seminars and workshops. There are three seminar rooms: hall (36 seats), wood room (20 seats) and the bread room (20 seats). The Puiduait has an ethnical atmosphere and you can add some fun workshops into your training programme: weaving a basket, baking bread, felting and many more. Tables can be arranged differently in the hall: 1. U-shape – max. 30 seats 2. Roundtable – max. 36 seats 3. Classroom – max. 36 seats

A cosy and comfortable café located near historic Põltsamaa castle. Come and enjoy great food and company on our outdoor terrace or in our snug and warm café. All families, groups and passers-by whose mind and body needs some replenishing are welcome.
Kassinurme Hillfort and Sacred Grove
The Kassinurme ancient area was established 1.5 thousand years ago. The sacred grove was discovered when the settlement was established, and it is one of the oldest sacred places in Estonia. A fragment of the ancient fort has been restored. At present the sacred grove is the favourite place for history enthusiasts who organise ancient war games there, revive old folk customs, and celebrate folk calendar holidays. The health trail lets visitors see the varied nature of the region and enjoy beautiful surface forms.
