Kalevipoeg’s Museum

The Kalevipoeg Museum represents one of the 21 places, marked with a National Geographic's yellow window, that are worth exploring in Southern Estonia. The museum is named after Estonian national epic "Kalevipoeg" because the Kääpa River is where the sword of Kalevipoeg is located, and around it are resting places, rocks, springs, swamps, and furrows. Weaving Chipwood Baskets in the Avinurme Wooden Handicrafts Center

Weaving a chipwood basket is the most popular attraction in the wooden handicraft centre and if there's a place in Estonia where this craft is known, it's Avinurme. Kassinurme Hillfort and Sacred Grove

The Kassinurme ancient area was established 1.5 thousand years ago.  The sacred grove was discovered when the settlement was established, and it is one of the oldest sacred places in Estonia. A fragment of the ancient fort has been restored. At present the sacred grove is the favourite place for history enthusiasts who organise ancient war games there, revive old folk customs, and celebrate folk calendar holidays. The health trail lets visitors see the varied nature of the region and enjoy beautiful surface forms.

Lustivere Manor

First records which mention the manor date back to 1552. The manor house inspired by Neo-Gothic style was built based on the designs of an architect and researcher of antiquities from Tartu, R.von Guleke, and it is one of the most remarkable manor houses in the centre of Estonia. At present the manor houses a retirement home. * The manor can only be viewed from the outside.

The rooms at Puiduait in Avinurme are perfect for training events, seminars and workshops. There are three seminar rooms: hall (36 seats), wood room (20 seats) and the bread room (20 seats). The Puiduait has an ethnical atmosphere and you can add some fun workshops into your training programme: weaving a basket, baking bread, felting and many more. Lake Kamari recreation area

Lake Kamari recreation area has become an extremely popular destination among holiday-makers for its beautiful views and forests. There are two jetties, areas for beach volleyball and football, a shower and toilets, benches and a playground for small children with swings and a slide. The swimming area is marked by buoys and there is also a children's pool.

Põltsamaa Rose Garden

The rose garden exhibits 5000 rose plants and almost 1000 different rose varieties. During the excursion visitors will see various rose varieties, and they will learn about their history and legends and other interesting facts. Roses mostly bloom from the middle of June to the middle of September, depending on the weather.

Karu Holiday Home

Laiusevälja in Jõgeva County is an authentic Estonian village with fields of grazing animals and dusty roads in summer lined with stalks of grain. The courtyard of Karu Holiday Home is designed to look like it would have done last century, replete with apple tress and berry bushes.
