Sacrificial spring ‘Laiuse siniallikas’

There is a mystic spring on the Laiuse drumlin. The spring was used as a sacrificial spring during the second millennium and considered a holy place by ancient Estonians. The folk believed that the spring is a source of strength, gives rain and drought, causes dearth or ensures a good harvest. They believed the water in the spring heals eyes and many other ailments. RMK Lake Endla hiking trail

The Lake Endla hiking trail starts at the information board located in Kärde village and ends at Tooma by the Centre of Endla Nature Reserve. It takes an average of 3-4 hours to walk the trail. Before reaching Tooma, the trail joins the Männikjärve bog study trail. The trail takes you through the forest and bog on boardwalks, thus the change of landscape is versatile and interesting. During flooding, the trail may partially be underwater and some parts of the forest may be quite muddy. Kassinurme Hillfort and Sacred Grove

The Kassinurme ancient area was established 1.5 thousand years ago.  The sacred grove was discovered when the settlement was established, and it is one of the oldest sacred places in Estonia. A fragment of the ancient fort has been restored. At present the sacred grove is the favourite place for history enthusiasts who organise ancient war games there, revive old folk customs, and celebrate folk calendar holidays. The health trail lets visitors see the varied nature of the region and enjoy beautiful surface forms.

Kuremaa Castle and Park

Kuremaa Classicist manor house was built in 1837-1843 by the von Oettingen family. The manor house was designed by the architect E. J. T. Strauss from Tartu. There is also a room for a museum in the castle which gives an overview of the region and of the history of Kuremaa Agricultural School. At present the rooms of the castle are used for organising conferences. The park rich in species descends towards lake Kuremaa which attracts visitors with its well-kept beach and possibilities for taking a rest.

Laiuse fortress ruins

Construction of the Laiuse fortress was launched by the Livonian Order in the late 14th century to defend its eastern borders. The first defensive structure in Estonia to be fitted with firearms, it gained its definitive appearance in the late Middle Ages. Cannon towers were added to the fortress in the mid-15th century. The fortress crumbled in 1559 but was restored, with wooden barracks built at the end of the Swedish era, which accommodated Karl XII and his entourage from 1700–1701. After the Great Northern War the fortress lay in ruins.

Aruküla hill recreation area

There is a lovely recreation area on Aruküla hill in Kaarepere which is perfect for families, friends, and larger groups. There is a playground with swings and a slide, especially loved by younger children. You can rest under the shelter or on benches or your own picnic blanket. Barbecue facilities are also available on site. Visitors can also play disc golf (there is a rental point). The Struve Geodetic Arc is also located in the recreation area. The view of Vooremaa from the hill is magnificent and there is plenty of room for camping.

Winter village

At the beginning of wintertime, the whole winter village becomes a Christmas wonderland. Santa's brother Glämmi lives with elves and other characters in the Torma Manor complex in Jõgeva County. The winter village puts everyone in a Christmas mood, regardless of age. During the week, we welcome groups from kindergartens, schools, and companies. And on weekends everyone is welcome with* children's Christmas events * different programmes for groups * activities for families * accommodation in a glamping tent * Christmas events for companies The winter village has cosily furnished tent houses with a fireplace.
